County engineers told the board the River Road walking trail project was bid in two parts: trail construction (low bid accepted under $50,000 and already under way) and a separate parking‑lot component. David L. Brooks Hauling & Excavating LLC submitted the low bid for the parking lot at $52,395.11. Staff asked the board to make available an additional $2,395.15 from operating funds to cover the combined cost difference from the adopted CIP.
The board approved the contract award and associated resolution by roll call (all voting aye). County staff said the trail clearing work has already begun and that parking lot work will follow under the awarded contract.
