City updates Brooklyn subdivision drainage work, says Phase 1 near completion; Phase 2 bid opens

City staff reported steady progress on the Brooklyn subdivision drainage and street-repair project and said the next milestone is a substantial-completion walk in about five to six weeks.

"So as of now, May 11... we're probably about 5, 6 weeks left from a substantial completion walk," Jamieson told the Drainage and Flooding Committee. Jamieson said crews have finished paving, are installing the remaining 64 driveways, have completed about 76% of sidewalks and will finish out outfalls and final grading before handing the project over to partners for closeout.

Jamieson said the contractor will complete a final walk where the city typically identifies punch-list items; the city then expects two to four weeks to finalize the project with the GLO and other partners. He added that Phase 2 of the city subdivision improvements was advertised recently and that bids for that work open the following day at 2 p.m. Once staff vet bidders they will invoice Precinct 2 (the partner on the project) and bring the lowest responsible bidder to council for construction approval in about six weeks.

The update was presented alongside a county-funded Brooklyn Drainage Detention Basin Phase 2 project and a separate city subdivision-improvements contract; staff clarified the two are distinct but concurrent efforts. Committee members asked that street signs damaged or temporarily installed during construction be replaced during final cleanup.

The committee did not take formal action beyond receiving the update; staff said they will return to council with construction authorization after the procurement and partner invoicing steps are complete.
