City recreation staff proposed relocating Daffodil Days to Heisman Field and reframing it as a spring carnival with rides and family activities to create a safer, more family-friendly environment. "We're going to move it to Heisman Field, and we're going to go with more of a spring carnival theme," Kara Peral said.
Committee members raised traffic and parking concerns, noting prior complaints about congestion near the event entrance. One member suggested placing ticketing lines well inside the event footprint to prevent roadside backups; others recommended using off-site parking at nearby properties or shuttle service. Staff said Perimeter (an overflow parking resource used previously) has significant capacity and that the city partners with a parking company for large events.
Peral said staff will add committee suggestions to the recommendation list and check with the event coordinator about overflow plans and ticketing logistics. No formal vote was taken; the item will be included in the staff memo to City Council for their Oct. 21 meeting.
