At its July 23 meeting, Canby Area Transit staff outlined two competitive grant applications under the Federal Transit Administration’s 5339 program to replace vehicles that have reached the end of useful life. "For the first application we're estimating a total project cost... about 395,600, which means we'd have to do a 20% match of $79,120 for the 2 cutaways," Bridal Mueller said, describing the funding strategy.
The second application requests replacement of coach (category A) buses with an estimated project cost of about $1,100,000 and a local match of roughly $222,000. Staff said they included flexibility in both applications—if awarded only partial funding, they are willing to accept funding for one vehicle per application to get at least some replacements.
