Airport staff report hangar, terminal and runway projects; SkyWest service preparations under way

Airport operations and development staff briefed the board on a series of capital projects and airline preparations.
Director of Operations & Development Austin Beiler said the hangar project should resume soon and that the storm basin is under another round of review comments. He reported the contractor for the Terminal project is scheduled to pour concrete on April 22 and steel is due to arrive May 3. Beiler also said the ALDI project is awaiting final FAA approval and that SkyWest's ability to start operations is contingent on TSA relocation work that is in process.
Staff said the runway and taxiway signage and electrical project will require runway and airport closures in the coming weeks and that a nomenclature change will take effect May 14, 2026. In the Essential Air Service report, staff noted SkyWest and United are preparing for upcoming flights starting June 2; SkyWest is using space upstairs in the Authority office for training.
General Manager Mark Tomlinson said Alliance Aviation is hiring two full-time staff and implemented a new fee structure on April 12 with no negative feedback to date.
