Commissioners move Building Authority employees into county payroll, name new Facilities Director

Commissioner Frank Loop told the Council July 8 that the Building Authority's duties have been reduced and the Commissioners are transitioning building operations to county control. Donnie Haire was introduced as the new Facilities Director to oversee county buildings and maintenance.
The Council approved appropriations and line-creations to move seven custodial employees and two maintenance workers onto county payroll and to fund the Facilities Director and a CFO-FCC position tied to the transition. One Building Authority employee will be reassigned to replace the retiring Teresa Plaiss. The motion passed unanimously.
