Residents near H Street reported yards inundated after heavy rain and high tide; staff to inspect ditches

A committee member described a midmorning event in which heavy rain and a high tide left ditches on H Street backed up and two East End residences inundated from the road to rear property lines. "It was one full property that literally looked like a lake," the member said, noting the city would inspect the ditches and follow up with homeowners.
Staff explained that because La Porte's drainage is tidal, high tides can push on outflows and prevent normal drainage during heavy storms; they committed to sending someone to inspect the reported locations and to assess what, if any, options exist to reduce repeated inundation.
