Council approves $1.48 million budget amendment tied to Shore Acres consolidation

A councilmember moved adoption of Ordinance 2026-5044 and the motion passed after a voice vote. Staff noted the amendment covers multiple funds—general, utility, and CIP—and that the funds will allow the city to begin purchasing equipment and staffing resources needed to assume services such as garbage collection and meter services. Staff also said they are working to transfer Shore Acres deposits and bank access so utilities and transactions continue uninterrupted.
Council framed the amendment as a practical step to implement consolidation-related services immediately. No formal dissent was recorded.
