City staff told Shore Acres residents that meter changes currently under way are the first step in converting accounts to La Porte and that residents should come to city hall to set up water accounts. "We really, really need you to come in and set up a water account so that we know who you are and we know who to send the bill to," City Manager Corby Alexander said.
Staff said they would try to transfer any existing Shore Acres deposits to La Porte accounts or, if necessary, issue credits or checks once records are reconciled. Utility-billing staff also said a $2 monthly discount will be applied automatically for customers aged 60 and over when eligibility is confirmed.
