Shore Acres Recreational Association says board approved $300 annual key; city says it did not set the rate

Residents asked why pier access keys are priced at $300 following consolidation. City Manager Corby Alexander and other staff stressed that the pier is now city property after consolidation and that the city "does not dictate the cost of the gate key." Staff said because the city owns the pier it must be open to La Porte residents if the city maintains it; the SRA described negotiating to set consistent rates for all La Porte residents. Staff and the SRA agreed to continue communications to manage access, emergency codes for public-safety entry and parking limits for members and guests.
