Judge requests security and equipment upgrades; motion to reinstate probation officer fails

Bade also indicated he would request a June transfer of approximately $21,863.23 to purchase an external magnetic door lock to allow remote locking and unlocking of a courthouse door, and a separate June transfer of $3,346.75 to replace Circuit Court recording equipment.
Bade requested reinstating a third probation officer for the remainder of 2025 but said he would not seek funding for that position in 2026 or 2027. A motion by Jim Weiseman, seconded by Fred Tobey, to reinstate the position failed on a 2–4 vote. Judge Bade asked the council to consult their attorney about the decision, stating, "It is unconstitutional," and said he would return to the council in June with additional information.
