Blackford County Council reinstates two county positions, approves bookkeeper at $22.73/hr

The Blackford County Council voted unanimously on May 7 to reinstate two county positions, approving both motions by 6–0. Clerk Kim Pitts requested restoration of a second Deputy/Election Supervisor; the motion to reinstate that position was made by Jim Weiseman and seconded by Fred Tobey and passed 6–0.
Highway Supervisor John Pluimer asked to reinstate a full-time Bookkeeper/Secretary at 35 hours per week, at a rate of $22.73 per hour. Kyle Lechien moved to reinstate the bookkeeper/secretary at the requested rate; Jim Weiseman seconded and the council approved it 6–0. Pluimer said the county will need to identify additional funding to support the position for the remainder of 2025.
The council also approved the April 9, 2025 minutes earlier in the meeting on a 6–0 vote. The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
