Major Knight said the cars are the same type the department currently uses and that some vehicles are currently being upfitted; he added the unit price for the vehicles themselves is roughly $43,044 each and that equipment and upfitting requisitions are being processed separately. "We have an opportunity to pick up 3 more vehicles... The price on the 3 is $133,587.33," Major Knight said.
A board member moved and the board unanimously approved the resolution by roll call; minutes record all voting aye. Staff said incoming academy recruits who graduate in June would be candidates for the new vehicles once upfitting is complete.
