Registrar asks for $150,000 to renew election‑services contract; board approves

Stephanie Ray, the county’s general registrar and director of elections, asked the Board of Supervisors on May 19 to approve a $150,000 contract amendment to renew services from Election Services Online for ballot programming, machine testing and ballot printing.
"We entered into a contract with Election Services Online in November 2024 ... and since we've had quite a few elections since then, we have reached our limit of $50,000 and so there's two more renewals available for this contract," Ray told the board. She said the two additional renewals would total $150,000 and that the election equipment still has service life remaining. When a supervisor asked whether county funds were expended in the last election, Ray said the county spent roughly $30,000 and that a state reimbursement program (a mid‑June application window) could return a percentage of those costs when the state finalizes its budget.
The board moved and approved the resolution authorizing the contract amendment by roll call (five ayes). The resolution authorizes staff to execute the renewals and to pursue available state reimbursement for eligible expenses.
