Commission approves dump-truck purchase, auction agreement and $40,000 bridge repair plan

Barfield also presented an agreement with JM Wood Auction to sell two Kenworth dump trucks and an old International truck; the commission approved the auction agreement (motion by Commissioner Jeff Hatcher, second by Commissioner Bart Wilks; vote 4-0). He reported the bridge on Caldwell Road is complete, Line Road bridge is about 75% complete, and clearing has begun for the White Oak Road bridge. The commission approved moving forward to replace the damaged Round About Road bridge with an estimated pipe-and-rock cost of approximately $40,000 and directed that funding come from one-cent funds (motion by Commissioner Jeff Hatcher, second Commissioner Bart Wilks; vote 4-0).
Engineer Barfield summarized staffing and workflow adjustments and said he would promote from within and add Equipment Operator I positions to maintain long-arm cutting and bushhogging schedules. He told commissioners: "I would like to add two additional Equipment Operator I positions" to increase capacity during the busy season.
