County Engineer Justin Barfield told commissioners he had received a letter of confirmation from FEMA indicating payments will be granted for the bridge replacement project and that the deadline has been extended until September 30, 2026. Barfield reported the White Oak Road bridge is complete aside from dirt work and guardrail, Caldwell and Line Road guardrail touch-ups were done, and the center span of the Round About bridge has been removed with pipe delivery scheduled to arrive the next day.
Barfield also provided status on other maintenance work: beaver-trapping and dam removals on multiple roads, installation of three driveway pipes since the last meeting, and ongoing brush cutting ahead of planned bushhogging in late May or early June.
