County Engineer Justin Barfield gave a year-end review of Road & Bridge operations and the county's FY2025 Rebuild Alabama Annual Report at the Jan. 12 meeting. Barfield said the department acquired $1,400,000 in grants in 2025 and summarized work including 2,481 miles of dirt-road grading, 29 miles of striping, 98 miles of right-of-way clearing, 14,000 feet of ditch clearing, installation of 108 road signs, and approval of six subdivisions. The commission voted 4-0 to approve the FY2025 Rebuild Alabama Annual Report.
Barfield also described specific Rebuild Alabama projects listed in the attached report (CR-16, CR-19 and CR-83), noted a bond payment of $325,100.66 during FY2025 and explained that a portion of annual CRAF revenue is applied to bond payments. He briefed commissioners on ongoing FEMA bridge pile driving and two remaining right-of-way acquisitions for bridge replacements. No additional funding approvals were taken beyond the approved annual report.
