Geneva County awards $86,448 bleacher contract for county arena

The Geneva County Commission on May 26 voted to award the contract for new arena bleachers to Outdoor Aluminum for $86,448. The motion was made by Commissioner Bart Wilks and passed 3-0; commissioners then authorized Chairman Toby Seay to sign the contract and issue a notice to proceed.
County Attorney Phil Eldridge told the commission that, although the procurement falls under public‑works law, the contract amount is under $100,000; he said the county still requires a signed contract and copies of insurance and recommended change orders for any unforeseen work. The commission recorded the award after reviewing three bids: Sightline Athletic Facility ($105,375), Mastercraft ($98,249), and Outdoor Aluminum ($86,448).
Chairman Seay or his designee will sign the contract after staff confirm required insurance and contract language are in place. The commission did not set a construction start date at the meeting.
