Cathy Davis asked the Gooding County Board of Commissioners for a hardship exemption for 2023 property taxes, saying she missed the circuit-breaker deadline and has been unable to pay the past-due amount.
Assessor Baldwin told the board "there is a state program that will help with past due taxes that pays the county and then she would pay the state." Commissioner Vern Eames suggested Davis contact the Office on Aging in Twin Falls for additional support. After discussion, Commissioner Eames moved to deny the hardship exemption on the basis that another resource is available; Commissioner Ronald Buhler seconded and the motion carried.
The board did not adopt any other relief or specify additional county-funded assistance at the April 6 meeting.
