Mayor and Council notes: downtown leases, retreat summary, parking, public art and program rebrand
Summary
Council received a downtown leasing update from Chris McGahee, was told retreat notes will be presented next session, heard that an overnight parking-hour amendment is forthcoming, learned DPAC has four artists shortlisted for a Red Clay project, and learned Duluth LEAD will be rebranded as ENGAGE Duluth.
Chris McGahee reported on the status of new leases for downtown restaurant and retail spaces that had been vacant, saying leasing activity is in progress.
City Manager James Riker said a summary of June strategic-retreat notes will be presented at the next work session. Council also discussed a forthcoming potential amendment to overnight parking restriction hours. The Mayor announced that four artists have been shortlisted for a DPAC public-art project at Red Clay. The Mayor further announced the rebranding of the Adult LEAD program to “ENGAGE Duluth.”
