Blackford County Council keeps $160,000 BCEDC contribution in 2026 budget

Blackford County Council President Jack Beckley said council members reviewed the county’s proposed contribution to the Blackford County Economic Development Corporation during the second 2026 budget workshop on Aug. 6, 2025. BCEDC Director Warren Brown explained how BCEDC is funded and how funds are used, noting that the county contribution is $160,000 while Hartford City contributes $35,000 and Montpelier contributes $10,000 for the year.
Council member Jim Weiseman moved to retain the county contribution at $160,000; Vice President Ryan Goodspeed seconded the motion. The motion passed 5–2, with council members Kyle Lechien and Casey Dick recorded as voting nay. The minutes record no additional conditions attached to the vote.
