County Engineer Frank Halton told the board that HBA (the county's A&E consultant) had completed preliminary tasks including a facility condition assessment, space-needs assessment and a schematic of the proposed renovations, and that the final scope would be defined as an amendment to the existing contract. "So HBA has provided us a quote to perform this additional work, and the remaining design tasks that'll get us through the final design, as well as through construction administration," Halton said, and staff requested board approval of a contract amendment in the amount of $850,585 to HBA.
The board voted to approve the contract amendment by roll call; votes recorded in the meeting were unanimous. Staff said some appropriation for preliminary design had been included in the CIP and that full construction funding is expected to be borrowed in the fall; the amendment funds the work needed to finish design and provide construction administration services.
