Board schedules Oct. 28 community meeting to collect public input on proposed FY27 cuts

The board voted to schedule a special board/community meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 05:30 PM so the public can provide organized feedback on individual budget proposals. The administration will choose a location with the necessary AV and seating and will publicize the venue and agenda.
Chair moved the scheduling motion and it was seconded and approved. The superintendent said the format will have an open forum plus dedicated sub-items so the public may speak to each proposed cut, including counseling, TAG, rural schools, athletics and transportation. He also noted that a small number of time-sensitive action items (for example, a National Guard lease) may still require occasional board action outside the engagement meeting.
Board members and attendees discussed logistics (availability of the high school gym, possible conflicts with athletic events) and administration said it would coordinate details and widely notify staff and families by email and social channels.
