NYSERDA grants to fund solar and EV chargers at Emerson Park; NextEra contract under review

Planner Emily Antonacci told the committee that Cayuga County has two NYSERDA Clean Energy Communities grants totaling $135,000 allocated for Emerson Park projects: solar installations (ground or roof-mounted) and up to three dual-port public EV chargers (six charging ports total). Antonacci confirmed that grant funds plus federal IRA Direct Pay tax credits and NY-SUN/utility incentives are expected to cover components and installation costs.
Procurement efforts are underway with the Purchasing Director, Parks & Trails and Highway Department. A contract with NextEra Energy Solutions, LLC d/b/a Power Management Company for EV charging stations is currently under review by the County Attorney. Staff said construction of the EV charging stations will likely begin next fall pending contractor and utility approvals; remaining grant funds will be allocated to another county clean energy project once installations are complete.
