Courtney Kasper, Tourism Director, told the Planning Committee that Tour Cayuga’s analysis using anonymized Zartico card‑transaction data shows out‑of‑state visitation increased from 41% to 53% year‑over‑year and accommodation share of visitor spending grew to 27%, suggesting longer overnight stays. Kasper recommended messaging emphasizing Cayuga County’s natural assets and quiet‑getaway positioning to capture this growth in intentional trips.
Kasper also announced that Hilary Fenner began Oct. 14, 2025 as Director of Marketing and Group Sales; Fenner brings experience leading marketing and group sales initiatives and will lead campaigns including Market NY and shoulder‑season promotions. The tourism office is managing several grants and marketing programs including Market NY, Tourism Matching Funds applications, and accessible travel initiatives.
