Planner Emily Antonacci told the Planning Committee she opened the County’s Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) pre‑application on Nov. 1; the window remains open through Dec. 31, 2025. Staff are coordinating with local land trusts and the Agriculture & Farmland Protection Board to prepare applications to the state’s Farmland Protection Implementation Grant Program for permanent protection of selected farms.
Antonacci said she is assisting with mapping, landowner meetings and site plans for three applications and will invoice the New York Agricultural Land Trust (NYALT) for 100% reimbursement of her time where applicable. The county’s PDR pre‑application is intended to position local farms for state funding that acquires development rights and keeps land in agricultural production.
