Village of Moravia awards five small‑business grants from $300,000 NY Forward fund

The Village of Moravia selected five projects to receive funds from a $300,000 NY Forward Small Project Grant Fund, Planning Director Kari Terwilliger told the Cayuga County Planning Committee. The county Planning Department administered the program on behalf of the village; nine applications were received and five were chosen by the village project selection committee.
Awarded projects include 5 Adams St (10‑10 BBQ & Catering) receiving $50,000 for building renovation and brewery equipment and HVAC upgrades; Woven Paths LLC at 41 Aurora St receiving a combined award (about $47,713 plus $15,000 for design services) for exterior and interior renovation, ADA bathrooms and equipment; Moravia Liquors at 101 S Main St receiving $25,000 for exterior repairs and lighting; Moravia Bookstore & Apartments at 124 Main St receiving $82,500 for structural and residential interior repairs; and The Hamilton Salon & Apothecary at 144 Main St receiving $49,787 to create a new residential unit and update common areas. The committee packet lists project scopes and award amounts as the basis for grant contracts and implementation.
County staff said the Planning Department will administer the contract with New York State Homes & Community Renewal on behalf of the village and support implementation and reporting. Terwilliger noted the county resolution to contract with the state was approved October 22, and staff will assist grantees with compliance and project closeout.
