Volunteer praised for post office cleanup; council asks staff for process guidance

A Vernonia resident praised a local volunteer, Mallory Baker, for cleaning the swimming-pool area and asked the council for guidance on how residents can assist with cleanup around the post office.
"I noticed there's a young person in the community, Mallory Baker, who has taken on the project of actually going down and cleaning and doing some extra work in the swimming pool area," said Steve Weller. Weller asked staff which ordinance or property-owner permission process applies to trimming shrubbery and removing debris at the post office; councilors agreed to have staff find owner contact information and follow up so volunteers can proceed under the appropriate permissions.
City staff said they would provide the property-owner contact information to Mr. Weller and check applicable ordinances; no formal action was required beyond staff follow-up.
