The deputy said, “In April, there are 12 crashes reported crashes, 4 of which included hit and runs,” and highlighted a May 22 overtime traffic enforcement mission focused on known problem areas.
The deputy also told the council about a single April 3 incident in which gunfire struck a home at the Wood Village Mobile Home Park; no one was injured and deputies identified a suspect who was arrested after an East Metro SWAT operation. The deputy said the case is now with the district attorney.
Councilors pressed for more detail about assault reports and whether incidents were domestic or between strangers; the deputy said most recent assault calls were domestic and often tied to disturbance calls at residences. The deputy added that seasonal factors and alcohol can contribute to upticks in certain categories of calls.
The council asked staff and the sheriff's office to continue monitoring identified hot spots and to report back with June statistics. No formal action was taken at the meeting beyond the informational report.
