Council hears governance and infrastructure updates including commission restructuring and new water tank progress

The city manager presented a plan to convert most commissions into committees to better align volunteer bodies with staff responsibilities; the clerk said the current structure was built in 1994 before the city had a full-time city manager. Council members indicated the commissions are broadly supportive and the planning commission would not be affected; ordinance and administrative updates will be required to implement the change.

Council also heard that preliminary geological reviews for a proposed new water tank site on city property were positive and that engineers discovered an old logging road which "may provide access" from adjacent required property, potentially saving the city significant money. Separately, council discussed an access request for property on Centerway but noted that the street does not meet current standards and is restricted by a 2006 easement that would need amendment before new access could be approved. Finally, council briefly discussed potential funding for the Lincoln County Water Alliance, a regional body seeking long-term water solutions; no funding decision was recorded.
