At the July 28 special call meeting, the Miami Lakes Town Council approved two formal items.
Item 7(a): The council approved a resolution setting a tentative millage rate of 2.1577 mills for the FY 2027 budget advertising process. Roll call recorded Councilmember Garcia voting No; Councilmembers Herzberg and Sanchez, Vice Mayor Moreira and the Mayor voting Yes. The motion passed 4–1. The council noted the setting is tentative and the final millage will be adopted during September budget hearings.
Item 7(b): The council approved a bid waiver and work order to Walter Duke & Partners for appraisal services on the Northwest 59th Avenue extension project. The motion was moved by the Mayor and seconded by Councilmember Garcia; the waiver passed by voice vote. Staff said the work is budgeted in the capital account and that the firm's prior experience and timing needs justified the waiver.
