DREAM Academy and district preschool programs report enrollment gains and student supports

Students from the DREAM Academy led the pledge at the Lakeside Union board meeting Dec. 19. Principal Brooke Dexheimer said the school's theme is "Together we Rise DREAM and Shine," and reported the program has grown this year to 135 students. Dexheimer said staff have focused on social-emotional learning and restorative practices, that a counselor has been added, and that "100% of all students report having a trusted adult on campus."
Robyn Bowman summarized district preschool offerings, saying they serve children from birth through transitional kindergarten on two campuses and enroll approximately 236 students, with about 77% of those students remaining in the district by moving into TK. Bowman thanked staff for laying the groundwork for early education in Lakeside.
