Building Commissioner Conner Barnette presented Ordinance #10 (Commissioner Bill #4), a set of amendments to the Jackson County Floodplain Ordinance required by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Water to keep the county eligible for the flood insurance program.
Barnette said the amendments make county language consistent with other floodplain communities across the state. Commissioner Drew Storey moved approval on first reading; later Commissioner Matt Reedy moved to suspend the third reading and approve on second reading. Both motions carried on recorded 3-0 votes.
The board recorded no further amendments to the ordinance during the meeting; Barnette indicated these changes are administrative and necessary for continued participation in the relevant state and federal floodplain programs.
