The department is processing about 25 applications for one open position and expects to complete hiring and background checks soon. Chief Moore also described training planned for the year and a spring rollout of community policing events aimed at families, noting the department trained with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation’s digital forensics unit at a recent legislative conference. "We're gonna kick it off next month with pop with a cop," Chief Moore said.
