The board heard a technical update on the Benefits 24/7 customer platform from Travis Cherry, chief information officer for the Health Care Authority.
Cherry said the technical team had identified 71 sync-file bugs to date; 19 were resolved by March and six were remediated in April, and the remaining issues were under review with a requirements-analysis target of mid-July. "So far, 71 bugs have been found, 19 have been resolved by March, and 6 were remediated in April," Cherry said. He described a planned complex-transaction walkthrough to trace issues "cradle to grave" and a design review of options to split sync-file functionality (accounting vs. eligibility/enrollment) to stabilize operations.
Cherry also said the agency will transition the login system away from SAW to wall.gov beginning in April of next year, coordinated with partner organizations and Watech, and will use a staged 'crawl, walk, run' approach for API development with targeted QA resources. Staff said they will provide periodic updates to the board and management on remediation progress and migration planning.
Board members thanked the team for the work; Cherry emphasized the mix of short-term patches and longer-term architectural work required to stabilize the platform.
