The dress-code updates were among the more substantial changes discussed: the draft now prohibits "leggings of any kind" (including yoga pants and tights) for grades 3'12 and requires skirts, dresses and shorts to be no more than four inches above the knee. "Shirts must be long enough to cover your torso even if you raise your arms. No bare midriff crop top shirts are allowed," the presenter said. The revision also clarifies electronics policy: teachers may permit electronic devices for academic purposes at their discretion and sites will provide storage or classroom rules for k-8 devices. The board authorized the policy to be advertised for public hearing and scheduled final approval for a later meeting.
