Fairport announces family fun nights and canal-side mural project

The Village of Fairport announced community events and placemaking efforts during the July 27 work session. Family fun nights will run on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. on Lift Bridge Lane West; attendees will be asked to dismount bikes on the lane during events for safety. The board encouraged residents to bring their families and noted upcoming scheduled dates through early September.
Board members also reported that the Office of Strategic and Economic Development (OSED) is sponsoring a large mural on the canal side of the Mule House (formerly Tappan Mallet), intended to create a welcoming placemaking element for the canal corridor. Trustees said the new ownership of the building is preparing the site and the mural will help signal arrival to Fairport along the Erie Canal.
