Mr. Kim Kramer and his granddaughter Ella Kramer visited the Clay County Board on April 27 seeking information about the county's small-business grant process to support renovations for a proposed salon.
The Kramers said Mr. Kramer owns the building and that the funds would help pay for wiring and bathroom costs should Ella open the salon after she graduates. The board provided a grant application packet and instructed the Kramers to schedule a follow-up appointment after completing the paperwork and assembling a budget. Mr. Kramer also discussed separate community projects with the local Legion and Lions Clubs to renovate an old depot and create a memorial section; the board asked for more information and a budget before deciding whether to participate.
The board did not take a formal vote on grants at the meeting; the matter was handled as preliminary application guidance.
