County schedules chip-seal work starting May 18 on multiple rural roads

Clay County Highway Administrator reported the department will begin a chip-sealing program on May 18, starting on Sunflower Road and 3rd Road and continuing to Thunder Road, 6th Road, 6th Street and work in the City of Clifton.
Highway Administrator Bobby Shomper told the Board the department completed blading, mowing and other spring maintenance and is preparing equipment for a planned chip-seal program that will begin May 18. He identified the first routes as Sunflower Road and 3rd Road, followed by Thunder Road, 6th Road and 6th Street, and work inside the City of Clifton.
Shomper also reported recent concrete-pipe repairs under Utah Road from 18th Road to the City of Green limits, tree removal, rock hauling, and equipment maintenance that delayed edging on blacktop until they resolved a truck hitch issue. The chip-seal schedule and route list provide the county's near-term road-preservation plan.
