The Lammersville Unified School District board voted unanimously March 5 to adopt Resolution 24‑25‑10, which acknowledges the certifications required to submit modernization and new construction funding applications to the Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) under Proposition 2.
Superintendent Dr. Nicholas said Proposition 2 is a $13,000,000,000 state construction bond and that the board must pass the resolution to meet OPSC rules, including providing a five‑year facilities plan. He told trustees the district currently has three projects in the old state system: Costa, Lammersville modernization, and the 15‑classroom project. “We have to pass this resolution in order to acknowledge one of the rules…which is a 5 year facilities plan,” Dr. Nicholas said.
Staff and trustees discussed match rates and likely outcomes. Finance staff said districts typically receive a state credit between roughly 25%–30% and that district matching will be required. Trustees noted that even with a generous outcome the district may only receive partial funding for its projects and that the district intends to apply for funding “every time” there are opportunities.
The motion to approve Resolution 24‑25‑10 carried 5–0. The board will continue to refine its five‑year facilities plan to align with OPSC requirements and pursue state funding for district modernization and new construction projects.
