Food services director Bernie Hill told the board the department had served about 962,509 meals through April 30, combining breakfast and lunch. "To date we've spent about $990,000 of the $1,700,000," Hill said, describing purchases that included a delivery van, dishwashers for two schools and a combi oven for the high school.
Hill described the Lammersville kitchen remodel as complete and praised staff for adapting during the transition (staff served meals from Bethany for seven months). The department also highlighted consultant "fresh eyes" visits, participation in the Chef Ann Foundation pre-apprentice/apprentice programs and menu changes that will add scratch-cooked items such as chana masala and ramen bowls next year.
