Bethany Elementary student leaders and TED Ed presenters opened the March 5 Lammersville Unified School District board meeting, previewing upcoming student events and honors.
“Asil Fiki, the 2024–25 ASB president, said finalists for a Castle State Board role will be announced March 7 and, if selected, they will advance to the final round in Santa Clara,” Asil Fiki told the board. Chloe Aquino described her school’s submission to Meet the Pros, a 12‑minute, six‑rotation mini‑workshop that the students will present at the Castle conference.
Harsha Pazapalati, Mountain House High School senior and head coach for the TED Ed student talks event, told the board the TED Ed program and a preceding GATE showcase will take place March 27 at Mountain House High School, with a GATE showcase at 5:30 p.m. and TED Ed talks at 6:30 p.m. “This event is a celebration of students’ creativity, critical thinking, and public speaking skills,” Pazapalati said, inviting board members and the community.
Board members praised the students’ presentations. Trustee Olson called the public speaking “incredible,” and student trustee Devika Vitilani reported ASB activities including a culture night and spirit week. The board encouraged the community to attend the March 27 GATE showcase and TED Ed student talks.
The presentations concluded without objection; trustees noted these student events illustrate cross‑grade mentorship and extracurricular engagement the district supports.
