The Parowan Planning & Zoning Commission voted to set a public hearing for May 20, 2026, to consider a minor amendment to the transportation master plan that would add an east–west minor collector across the west side of town.
Staff member (S2) said the area currently lacks east–west minor collectors between roughly 400 North and 200 South and proposed changing the map designation to reflect future connectivity. “So basically, it would look like the picture that you have on your memo,” S2 said while showing a before-and-after map; S2 added that the technical change increases the right‑of‑way from 60 to 66 feet, which “changes our ability to go after funding” for road construction and will apply to future subdivisions as they develop.
Commissioners asked whether the change alters the physical road now; staff clarified the road footprint does not change immediately but the larger right‑of‑way would be required when subdivisions come in and could help the city secure funding to complete missing links such as 100 North. The commission moved (S1) and seconded (S3) to set the public hearing date; the motion passed and staff will forward the amendment to city council as an ordinance or resolution for map amendment.
