Public Works Superintendent Jon Jordan told the Cowley County Commission the department wants to nominate bridge OS52 for funding under the Kansas Local Bridge Improvement Program (KLBIP) and the Off‑system Bridge Programs. Jordan said if OS52 receives the grant, the county could substitute a different bridge into the KLBIP list.
Jordan noted that, if awarded, the grant would require the county to provide a 15% local match. Commissioners expressed support for applying with OS52 as the candidate project; no formal vote with dissent was recorded and staff were instructed to proceed with the application process.
The application would begin the formal grant process and, if successful, lead to project design and scheduling steps subject to the county's match obligations.
