Lorain accepts $200,000 Park Foundation donation for fire department vessel

On July 6 the council passed Ordinance 79-26 authorizing the Safety/Service Director to accept a $200,000 donation from The Park Foundation for the Lorain Fire Department. The ordinance was suspended for readings and approved unanimously.
Councilmembers praised the department for securing the funding. Safety/Service Director Carrion said, “No additional staffing is required, no overtime, present staffing on the pumper will be relegated to that boat,” explaining how existing personnel will cover the new vessel without extra cost. The measure was recorded as passed 11–0.
