Resident urges Horsham to consider drone or laser show instead of fireworks

Van Holven told council fireworks not only create noise that she said can be triggering for people with PTSD and autism and disruptive to domestic animals and wildlife, but also produce chemical pollution that settles on land and water. “They pollute our air, our ground, and our water,” she said, and suggested a drone or laser show as a modern alternative that avoids those impacts.
Council thanked Van Holven for her suggestion and indicated the proposal would be taken under consideration. The council discussion about the township's developing noise ordinance was raised in the hearing but council did not take a formal vote on event-specific restrictions during this meeting.
