Warrick County board honors state-qualified student athletes

The Warrick County School Corp recognized dozens of high school athletes who qualified for state competition, highlighted school and conference records and noted several players moving on to collegiate programs.
The Warrick County School Corp board recognized student-athletes from Booneville, Castle and Tecumseh High Schools for qualifying for state competitions and for season accomplishments.
"She's a three-time state qualifier in the 100 meter and set a school record this year at 12.07 seconds," Coach Jason Mace said of senior Ava Kelly while introducing several Booneville qualifiers. Coaches highlighted sectional, regional and conference championships, relay records (Booneville's girls 4x100 conference record 49.75s; later reset to 49.48s at regionals) and individual achievements. Coach Wood, speaking for Tecumseh, described a 29–4 season and postseason statistics that included team averages of 9.6 runs per game and an ERA of 1.06 for three pitchers.
Board chair Mrs. Glover and Dr. Redmond invited the athletes and families to the front for photographs and publicly congratulated the teams. Coaches noted the broader value of athletics for academic performance and character development, with Castle High reporting a 3.7 team GPA for its golf program and several athletes committing to play at Eastern Illinois University and Ball State.
