Promotions announced included Lieutenant Chris Perry to division chief of safety and training, Sam Cornix to merit lieutenant and Jimmy French to engineer; firefighter Ethan Shepherd completed his probationary year on July 14. The chief said the hiring application period opened July 1 and closes July 31, and that the department had received 256 pre-applications.
The chief also described recruits beginning the most challenging portion of the Northside Fire Academy — a multi-week period of firefighter survival and rescue training. The board accepted the updates and offered no follow-up motions.
