Board Authorizes Publication of Bids for Price Legal Drain Reconstruction

Kevin Krolick, engineering department, asked the board to authorize publication of bidding documents for Price Legal Drain reconstruction, saying all permits, approvals and the city–county MOU are in place. If authorized, the department planned to publish documents the week of July 30 and open bids at a tentative Aug. 24 opening.
Krolick said the project was funded in 2022 with an initial figure of $1,250,000 and said, "Inflation would say it's about 1.4 now, but we'll see how the bids open up before we move forward." The board moved to authorize the bid publication and approved the motion by voice vote.
Krolick noted some work will be jack-and-bore under CSX and under State Road 39 and that NDOT has requested the city open-cut SR 39 at the contractor's schedule, which may require temporary closures to coordinate with state and railroad requirements. The engineering department will return with bid results and schedule recommendations once bids are opened and evaluated.
