The Select Board announced that Townshend received a $48,000 municipal stormwater grant from VTrans for a scoping study focused on the East Hill Road culvert. Chair (S1) said the town's share would be $12,000 and that signing a project commitment will allow VTrans to complete paperwork and draft the larger grant agreement.
"We've got we received a grant for $48,000 for a scoping study for East Hill Road, Culvert," the chair said. Board members discussed which culvert(s) should be prioritized; road foreman Jeremy (S3) recommended focusing on the culvert below Holt Farm on East Hill because it has repeatedly undermined the road. The board moved to authorize Nick to sign the project commitment form so the grant process can continue.
